COMPUTER SKILLS

 

Having a long and successful career selling and marketing high tech products, I have been deeply involved with a wide range of computer and industrial control networks.  Being a strong believer in using technology to improve performance and profitability, I have used PC’s and mid size computers to enhance the performance of the Sales Force, and increase overall customer satisfaction.  I am a power user of MS Office, proficient in macro development, database design and programming, as well as the creation of interactive PowerPoint presentations.  I am also proficient in upgrading PC hardware and software.  Always looking to leverage new technologies, I have been involved in the creation and maintenance of corporate web sites.

 

 

 

   Sales Force Automation

I have used several different contact management programs on both PC and AS400 platforms.  In addition, I have also developed custom, customer information and order tracking applications in MS Access as well as a market intelligence database that resided in Lotus Notes. 

 

Using these tools, I have been able to assure consistent follow-up on quotations, and prospects, as well as monitoring the productive of the sales force.  These databases have also provided detailed analysis of the effectiveness of advertising dollars and have proven very useful in maximizing the return on investment.  A further benefit of my efforts in this area, was providing all users access to the same up-to-date data thus making sure that all team members were kept abreast of the latest information.

   MS Office

Earning my living by promoting and practicing effective communications, I have spent many hours learning the in’s and out’s of the various MS office products.  As evidenced by this website, I am familiar with FrontPage and the web publishing capabilities of both Word, and PowerPoint.  In developing sales collateral and support material, I have created interactive presentations for trade shows and as tools for the field sales force.  The presentations allowed the user to control the flow and content thus maintaining a high level of interest.

 

To track customer inquires, manage mailing lists, and analyze data, I have used both Access and Excel both as independent programs and also as an integrated solution.  Typical applications include customized and targeted response letters, automated lead follow-up along with market and sales performance analysis.

   PC Hardware & Software

The first PC that I used was a Commodore 64.  Since then I have worked with DOS and Windows including XP, NT and 2000.  I have built and upgraded PCs adding memory, drives, modems, network cards etc. and installed numerous software packages.  While at Scan-Optics, I coordinated the Sales Department’s documents and other information to assure that everything that was presented had the appropriate “look and feel” regardless of the hardware or versions of Windows or Office used. At Trans-Tek, I set up the PC end of the PC/AS400 interface.

    Web Design 

At Moore Measurement, I lead the Web Page Development Team that designed the division’s first functional web site.  In addition to coordinating the development process, I had ownership of the overall look of the website and also the content of the individual pages.  While at Scan-Optics, I was a member of the Web Taskforce, again having ownership of the marketing related content. 

 

Knowing that the World Wide Web is becoming an incredibly powerful tool for sharing information as well as a conduit for disseminating critical information, I have learn to build web sites, primarily to develop a better understanding of how to best leverage the technology.  This resume site is just a sample of what I can do.
