ADMINISTRATION

From my first position as an Application Engineer and in most of my positions thereafter, I have had the oversight of the Sales Force.   In my supervisory capacity, I was responsible for the selection, hiring, training and direct supervision of these organizations.  I was also the individual that set performance goals and monitored performance against these goals.  In the instances where performance did mot meet expectations, the responsibility of termination was also mine.

During my tenure at Trans-Tek, I had a staff of three full time and two part time employees.  While there, I instituted a formal review process including specific, agreed upon, performance goals.  The result was improved performance, as employees understood not only the criteria used for evaluation, but also the increase in the level of performance expected.

Philosophically, I believe that to effectively manage people, they must understand what is expected of them and the tools needed to succeed must be provided.  Additionally, they should understand that they are allowed to fail, for fear of failure severely limits the heights to which a person will aspire.  It should also be understood however, that repeated failure, or failure without extreme effort will not be tolerated.

My management and administrative skills have been recognized by Senior Managers and resulted in my appointment to the Management and the Strategic Planning Committees at Moore.  At Scan-Optics, I was appointed the Sales and Marketing Department's representative to the corporate Quality Council.

In my personal life, I have held the position of President of the Home School Association for my son's school.  I was also on the Strategic Planning Committee for Odyssey Community School, a local charter school.  In addition, I have served on the fund raising committee for St. James Church.
